Pool filters are designed to catch and remove debris from a residential or commercial swimming pool. The filter system typically includes several valves, which are responsible for draining out the filter and removing excess air from the filter system during startup or draining. Operating and controlling the valves on the pool filter correctly will help prevent problems and can keep the filter working well.
、Locate the valves on the pool filter. Generally speaking, there is an open air relief valve on top of the filter, an open valve extending from the upper side of the pump and from the strainer that is connected to a suction valve, and a drain valve on the lower side of the pump.
、Open the air relief valve on top of the filter two or three rotations when starting the filter and then close when a steady stream of water flows out of the valve.
、Rotate the open valves on the top side of the filter and on the pump strainer counterclockwise to open when starting the filter.
、Keep the drain valve closed when the filter is started or operating.
、Close the open valves when cleaning the filter or replacing the filter cartridge. Open the drain valve and the corresponding suction valve to flush out the close valve until the water runs clean. Replace any drain plugs that are worn or broken. Close the drain valve.
